| My Uncle Casey |
I don't know if this is a picture of my dad or of his twin brother, Casey, who died young from cancer according to my brother, Tom. My sister, Judy, remembers a different narrative.
I cannot find documentation in the Federal Census records that my father had a twin brother named Casey or that he even had a brother that was born on the same day as he but all of us siblings agree that he did indeed have a twin. Judy told me that Casey grew to adulthood, got appendicitis, and went to a hospital where doctors removed his appendix. Right after the operation, he got up and was running around when his surgical wound burst open and he died. This was devastating for our father.
